First time fishing at Rufus that I've been skunked. Had a couple of bites and one on and lost it, & that was it. The Colville checker said that it has been extremely slow & he had only saw 3 small ones caught all day. Don't know what the problem is, but we tried everything & couldn't get anything in the boat. I take that back. We were fishing the can line & a 3' snake slid off a pile of brush & swam over to the boat & crawled right over the transom. That livened things up! He then curled around the upper shaft of the kicker motor { liked the warmth I guess} and was not going to be disturbed. He got inbetween the engine and the shaft & it took us over 20 minutes to pry him loose. When we finally got him in the water, he tried numerous times to catch up with us & crawl back in. Thank the lord that my wife wasn't in the boat or I would have had to fish her out of the lake!

My fishing buddy looked it up after we got home & he claims it was a "racer". Supposed to be cranky and will strike when handled, but not poisonous.

Would have been an interesting addition to a crawler harness...snake on.
