First let me say that this is a special report due to the fact my wife @ 31 years of age has now taken an interest in fishing due to my constantly nagging her to go. Our first adventure fishing was absolutely horrible so I have been trying to make it up to her ever since a bad bottom fishing trip (Arghh She was Sick the entire time)
Anyway, she has found a new love in trout fishing, with less waves and motion! Ha Ha. We were fishing on a spot my father and I used to fish many years ago called Ponders Creek. The bottom is flecked with river rock in this one portion of the lake, and produces very nice fat fish all throughout the year. She made her own cast approx 8 ft from the boat and did the baiting of her hook with PowerBait and everything all by herself. She even created her own personal copyrighted shape in hopes to entice the fish more. In less than 15 minutes she was yelling my name and saying, "What do I do!!! I look over and her pole is bent double. I said set the hook baby and hang on!! She set the hook so well the fish jumped straight out of the water stripping 20 ft of line off her pole, letting out a silent scream of pain as she set the hook with quite a bit of muscle! LOL After 5 minutes of fight, the fish gave up lurking towards the boat tired as can be. I brought the fish into the boat, and was very surprised at the size. 15 3/4 long and almost 3 1/2 lbs. She is now Hooked! Pardon the pun, but she now wants to go fishing everyday and get the Big One! We also have 2 girls 9 & 2 1/2 that have been fishing with us almost every time, and yesterday my 2 1/2 year old caught 2 fish 10 & 13 inches on her Tweety Pole. What a blast!!!
