Wow, I don't know about anyone else but for me I have to say fishing was tough! The crappy weather this past week has definately had an impact on fishing for sure. I fished hard all day from 0530-1330. I managed to get just 3 bites and catch 3 kokes. 2 14 inches and one 16. One fish came on a pink hoochie and the other two came on spoons. Depths varied from 22-33 feet today. I had to work hard for these fish today let me tell you! We will need some warm weather again to turn the fish back on. Did anyone else have any success with Kokes today?

Its not just you the Koke bite is very slow this year. After talking to a couple different people it might not get any better. I guess we can just wait and see.

No good for me either. But getting 3 kokanee is more than I got. I hooked 6 rainbows.

The trout fishing seemed to be fine today but I am convinced that this year there are way less Kokanees in numbers and that the ones that are there will be bigger and more challenging to catch. The last 2 years there have been an abundance of 11-14 inch fish and they have been easy pickens. This year the fish will be bigger and getting limits may be more challenging, require more effort etc. Last year it seems like you could fish almost anything 15-25 feet down and catch easy limits, whereas this year you will have to switch it up a lot until you find the magic lure of the moment and the magic depth and then you have to be ready to switch it up again in 30 minutes or so. You can still get limits, as I did last week but it will not be as simple as it has been the past 2 years. We will have to wait and see but I am pretty sure this will be the case this year. I have caught almost all my fish this year on a different color than the one I just caught and even at a different depth.

Fishenfreak, nice video man. Have you been fishing American this year or Merwin? It is an interesting technique. I tried 10 feet down today but the fish were down 20-30 feet in American today.

I did hear from a friend that there was a guy fishing American today that got 8 Kokes today, and I would be very curious to hear what he did today.

Fishingfreak, the technique you show in the video, if fished in american this year, would catch so many rainbows I do not know if you could even get to the Kokes. American is FULL of hungry rainbows this year!

Good report jdlunk. I think i ran into you in the parking lot as I was driving out. We (my father and I) didn't manage any Koke's but 9 rainbows instead. After three or four passes without a take on some large groups of fish, i switched to the trout.

Fishingfreak's rig is sweet, but It's illegal in most waters. WA State general regs only allow a max of 3 hooks, total per working line. I run double hook rigs, as well, but with single octopus hooks. I don't know where he fishes, it could be legal there. Nice video, though.

Was out on American yesterday too and got zippo. One bite that didn't stick.
Talked to the Salt Patrol guys when we passed them at one point and they had two between two of them. Tough sledding for sure. Maybe I'll have to go north to Stevens or Whatcom to scrape up a mess of Kokes.
