The day began with a back roads route through the North Palouse. Three elk were the first of many, varied wildlife sightings for my wife and me. A herd of eight mule deer between Medical Lake and West Medical Lake were our final big game viewing prior to pulling into the West Medical Lake Public Access. We were surprised to see very few bank anglers in our early morning arrival, but those numbers increased drastically as the morning wore on. My wife and I both ended up catching our limits. Two of my wife's fish and one of mine were in the 2+ pound range. Other than some SLOB leaving a bench-type boat seat up against the chain-link fence by the launch; the lack of litter was a very pleasant (near shock) experience for this public access. Normally, I pick up at least two plastic shopping bags of litter around any bank area I fish at this site. Medical Lake P.D. was out in force checking boaters; so have all your boating safety equipment in order. In general, very nice people bank fishing on a wonderful day.
