The vacation was nice, but it's good to be home and back on the water! We had a great day of fishing on Lake Chelan today! I brought along my buddy Orin Tollackson to help me try out some new equipment, techniques, and to get the rust off! We hit the water about 7:00 am and headed out to try a little jigging. This technique is pretty new to me, but I had to give it a shot. Knowing how to target a species using different techniques and gear helps you learn more about the fish and makes you a more versatile fisherman (I read a lot of northwest sportsman mags on the plane) haha. Anyhow it worked! We hunted around on the sonar until we found a good concentration of fish and dropped down on them. Pretty simple, yet a lot of fun! We also ran a few passes through the trench with Hi-Flys and caught fish that way as well. We kept our speed right at the 1.3 to 1.4 range and fished water from 140 to 240 feet deep. The deeper water seemed to be a little more productive.
