I was feeling a bit lazy this morning so I didn't get on the water until 1030 or so. I launched at Mill Bay and motored up to the narrows to explore a bit. Didn't mark many fish but did get one to the boat (7# 10oz), and got a couple more hits. Saw some deer walking along the shoreline and a Golden eagle keeping the local coot population in line. Had another fish on, but alas it didn't like the idea of leaving the 340 ft where I hooked it, so after a very short tug of war, it came unhooked. I motored down lake to the Rocky Point area, and started trolling down the trench (180-210 feet of water). Got a few more hits, and boated 3 more small Macks for a total of 4 fish for the day. Got off the water around 3:00. I did try my hand at the drop shot jigging but didn't get any hits, but I've got a lot to learn about this technique. I want to say Thanks to Lundegard for sharing advice/tips on the equipment and rigging of drop shot fishing for lakers. Even though I didn't drop shot any lakers to the boat today, I'll be using your tips to try again soon. I forgot to put my cameras in the boat today, so the pic is from my cell phone. Stay warm and safe out on the water.
