I woke up early on Sunday morning, and had the spontaneous idea to head down to Greenlake to see if the brown trout are still biting. I got there just before sun up, and it was bitterly cold with a light breeze in my face. I fished mostly from the big dock on the SE side near the small craft center. To start off the morning right, I had the bail shut on me in the middle of my first cast. That caused a fine mess, that was a lot of fun to untangle with numb fingers. I tried an assortment of spoons and spinners with no luck. Eventually the fingers on my right hand got so numb I was having trouble casting without having the lure go straight up or straight down every third cast. So I switched to side arm casting, as that way my cast would at least go roughly in front of me.
After about two hours my wife called and said she was making a hot breakfast. The lure of sausage, eggs and hot coffee was too great, so I called it a day. It may not sound like it, but I actually had a great time.
