Tough, tough, tough fishing out of Seatons Grove, upper end of Rufus. Water temp at 48 degrees, little flow. 3 days of hunt and peck, not a big fan of squatting by the pens so more work for me. Few fisherman, most agreed, need to wait for colder water

Colder than 48 degrees? I thought trout like the 45 to 55 degree temp.

Actually looked it up and Rainbow trout prefer 56 to 62 degrees.

Thanks for posting woodfish24, it can be a tough go at times for sure. Hi ya MotoBoat, the 56-62* is the ideal range published true. But as with most things, it all depends on the individual situation. Rufus is famous for "Cold Water Bites". As far as water temps at Rufus, Cindy and I have had some of our better "Catching" trips in water temps of upper 30s. The coldest surface water temp for us up there was 34* and we still caught fish, but it may have been a fluke year. Granted, as the water gets colder, we have had to change the presentation some to stay in the catch zone. Wishing all good luck on the water, and be safe out there. It's Coooold

Thanks for your input fellas. My temperature analysis is based on my experience on the water at Rufus over the last 15 years and the talk around the boat ramp at take out from the locals.
Be safe out there, those ramps can get scary this time of year, please drain your trailer at the bottom of the ramp to keep it safe for others.
