Holy Mackrel, salmon salmon salmon!! Is there anyone out there fishing for Pike and Bass anymore. Wow, you can certainly tell when the salmon bite is on. I sometimes wonder if you good folks on the west side of the state ever fish during the summer. Fall comes around and BAM! Nothing but salmon reports. I guess I'll have to come over and give them a try some day. Anyway -------- I fished Coeur d'Alene Lake with the Drumdog last Saturday. Yep, that's right, he put the golf clubs down long enough to come out for another fishing "Lesson". We worked over a couple of my favorite spots for most of the day. Ended up with 2 nice large mouth and 8 pike. He only got 2 of those fish mind you so he might have labeled the day as a 1 or a 2, instead of the 4 I gave it. Best fish of the day were a couple of 31"ers that went 8 and 8 1/2 pounds. All fish were successfully released to fight again another day. I can't really tell you what they were biting on, that's a secret, but I will tell you this. Those baits kept making a strange noise all day long. Ribit, Ribit, Ribit. Funny how a soft plastic bait can sound so real. Slow moved over the edges of the weed beds was the ticket, in about 3 to 5 feet of water. It's strange how these fish won't hit the faster moving baits but when they go after a slow moving bait they come a hundred miles an hour, even in 50 degree water. All pike and bass that day were caught on the same lure. Happy Fishing
