I've fished Larson several mornings with zero success so I decided to take a shot at it during the evening. I arrived around 4:30pm and was surprised to find three fisherman on the dock with a stack of Crappie. I'd say they had at least a couple dozen fish that they were cleaning when I arrived and they pulled in at least 40 total that I saw during my trip. Knowing that this lake is so small, I was a bit disappointed to see so many fish (especially small ones) being removed from the system. I also never expected to be combat fishing at Larson! That said, I joined the masses and threw my bobber and jig out into the lake. The fish were hovering about 50 feet out. I was obviously the newbie to Crappie fishing and only managed to hook 3 (and landed 1) while the other guys got many more (albeit with better position on the school). After awhile I moved down the waterfront a little bit and landed another one.

Just a little bit of info on the lake conditions in case anyone is interested. The lilly pads are dying out now and the fish seem to have mover out towards the deeper part of the lake. They were essentially at the outer limit of casting distance from shore. I'm not sure of Crappie behavior, but if they move out any further I'd say they'll be uncatchable without a boat/tube.

This was the first time I've ever caught a Crappie and I really enjoyed the experience. Hopefully this lake will not be exploited and will continue to produce fish for many years to come.

Thats really dissapointing that those people are taking that much crappie. Thanks for the report. Catch any sculpins?

Yea, I will say that, at least most of the fish were probably of edible size. I've seen "bucket fisherman" on Lake Washington with buckets full of tiny perch and pumpkinseed. What the heck are you going to do with a 5inch perch?

Oh, I forgot, no sculpins. I haven't actually caught any since June. I'm going to have to go find some or change my nickname.

When I use to fish there we would take maybe a dozen or so for me and my pal to fry up and put down with some cold ones. Larson is good though cause its easy access. But please practice C&R

This lake is full of croppie, I think it is overpopulated, we should remove as many large ones as possible to allow room for the small ones to grow. Maybe a size limit should be put on this lake. This lake is a fishery my grandkids will get to enjoy

Sorry you had to combat fish. I will give you a tip, fish all open areas around the lake and you will catch larger fish in peace. Good luck
