Logan77 and I were planning to go out on his boat to fish the sunset for smallies, and decided to go a few hours early to try to catch some largemouths in the newport marina (where the boat is at). We arrived at around 2 or so, and started flipping senkos under the dock and around boats. Logan77 caught a decent sized perch, and soon after that I caught my personal best bass at a little over 3 lbs! I almost lost him, he hit the senko on the way down while the bail was still open, and pulled out a good amount of line before I could close the bail and set the hook. Fortunately, the fish didn't wrap the line around a piling and break off. A little after that Logan77 pulls up a 2 1/2 pound bass inbetween a couple of parked boats. No luck for a while until Logan77 hooks a 3.5 pounder right near his boat and lands him! It was funny because there was about a 2 pound bass attacking the 3.5 pounder Logan was fighting! I dropped my senko right in front of the 2 pounder, but he didnt take it. Im sure Logan will post a report with the picture of his fish. We didn't catch anything but dinks after that, and I missed about a 2 pounder right before we left on the boat. There were TONS of bass around the dock. Even though we didn't catch a ton of fish, we caught a few big fish which is why this report is a 5.

On the boat, Logan77 caught a couple that were a pound and a half, and a couple dinks, and I missed a couple dinks, but the smallmouth bite was not nearly as good as the largemouths. Overall great day of fishing.
