The Walleye fishing has been a little tough, throughout the weekend we would pull into a spot catch a Walleye right away and then it was multi-species bonanza time. Trout after Trout, a 25 Lb. Carp by the tail, yellow belly bullheads, a few perch, and small small mouth that hit like a WAY bigger fish! Finally move to another spot- catch a Walleye right away and think OK here we go, get a double on- Trout. It became a joke that if we caught a Walleye in a spot we were going to reel up and leave!
Monday morning we caught 25+ trout in a row, after two nice Walleye to start the morning, and smallmouth to 4Lbs. Fun fishing if you enjoy the mixed bag of different fish. Crawdad cranks in the rocks, Perch cranks on the rest of the lake have been the most consistent producers. We did pull spinners and worms on Sunday for a bit while the wind was flat, caught a 20 inch Walleye right away but the smallmouth will burn through some nightcrawlers in a hurry! As soon as the weather cools we will have a much more consistant Walleye bite but for now we will have the multi-species roundup!
