Spent the weekend on the lake and didn't see much action. First time in 30 years I have not taken at least one limit if not limited the boat. We were using Jack Lloyd flahers with a wedding ring. A small piece of worm and tipped with white shoepeg corn (which has always been a producer) showed slow results. Fishing anywhere from 10ft to 30 ft we only caught a few small kokes and did end up with one 15 inch cutthroat. No chance to set Burbot lines as the trot line gear was forgotten at home.
I am unsure of why the fishing was so slow but the fishfinder was showing the water to be littered with schools of kokes and yet no action seen.
Still a fun weekend with lots of time for playing in the water pulling the tube and playing on the wakeboard. Next time will take up on of the RC Float planes and get in a little play with those also.
Funny things is........... The Lake is still at full capacity and they have not released any water but have lowered Lake Kacheelus a bunch. This is different than what I have seen in the past. Ususlly by the end of August Kachees is down a fair amount and boat camping spots open up which makes for some great shore fishing for us.
Will try again in a couple of weeks ( I have a season pass for parking at the boat ramp at the kachees campground so will need to get at least 3 more trips in to make it pay for itself.

me and a friend were thinking of going to kacheless this sunday is it good for kokanee's ? which of the three reservoirs would you recommend ? anything helps . thanks

@ Jake Dogfish: I had no idea set lines were no longer allowed, I will read up on my regs for the 2 lakes and make sure I am up to date. Thanks for the heads up!

@ chantaclair: I lived on Snoqualmie Pass for 20 years and fished both Kachees and Kacheelus with equal success. Kachees was usually better early on in the fishing season and Kacheelus produced steadily but usually smaller kokanee. If by the 3rd reservoir you mean Lake Cle Elum I only fished it once going for Mac's and did not have any luck at all. That was very early in my fishing career and i did not have a clue as to what to use, how deep, ect. The one deciding factor may be that parking and launching are free at Lake Kacheelus while to use the launch at Kachees requires a day permit from Thousand Trails (they manage and maintain Kachees campground) and is around 5 bucks. Both probably require a vehicle use access permit which is issued with your combination fishing and hunting licenses. Good Luck! I bet the bigger kokes may be staging at the mouth of the tributary streams right now getting ready to head up and spawn.I was up there a couple of weeks ago and all I caught were small kokes and a real nice cutthroat.The best producer for me was a flashlites attractor followed by a dicknite spoon.I caught a few on wedding rings tipped with gulp maggots too.There are both Macs and bull trout in this lake better know the difference before you boat one.
