Hit the water at 6:45 after the gate got opened (thanks King County Parks). I had high hopes and expectations as I started kicking along in my pontoon. Worked counter-clockwise to the far end of the lake focusing on surface baits, hoping for that one quality fish explosion which we bass anglers are all so addicted to. This lake has so many excellent looking places to cast to that I couldn't help but think the next cast would be THE cast. Sad to say, no luck. I worked the pads with a frog and a rapala "walk the dog" type lure, but no luck.
Decided to change up and started casting rattletraps and diving plugs because after the pad area the far side of the lake has a bit more depth closer to shore. That was the ticket, sort of. Caught a couple 10" dinks, enough to tease me into submission. Came back to find the launch area covered with moms and little kids. Kinda drove home that it was back to civilization. What a nice morning on the water though. This lake is only 5 miles from my house. I really should fish it more often, I'm sure there are a few nice pigs in there.
