Went to Lake Tapps with a friend from the BAss Club. We had a fantastic day. We stopped counting at 40 SMB all C & R. Largest was a little over two pounds. We also caught a Musky photo attached. Also a photo of my friend with one of his Smallies. We also caught them on crankbaits in addition to the soft plastics. Water temp was about 71 degrees. Most fish in about 12 to 18 ft of water. Several times we had doubles on. Fish were super active and hammering the baits. Wish every day fishing was like this one.

Gonna hit the lake on Wednesday, what baits were you using?

What time does the park gate open, and what is the launching fee now? I live 15 minutes from Tapps and have never fished it. When it comes to bass, I am a fanatic about catch and release. Infact I will not take anyone out in my boat that won't agree to releasing all bass caught.

Lizards, Grubs on a football head, tubes, crankbaits diving about 10 ft.

There is an over population of SMB in Lake Tapps and DFW is trying to get rid of some. They have raised the limit per day to 10 with one fish kept over 15 inches.

Park gate opens at 6am. I pay $5 to launch but I get the senior rate. Not sure the regular rate to launch.

Thanks for the imformation. It is appreciated. I am also a senior, so that's a reasonable launching fee. I love fishing smallies and fish American regularly. But Tapps is a much shorter trip. Then its just a matter of learning a new lake. Anyway, thanks again.

regular fee is $15 to park and watch out for the sheriffs. no beer allowed in the park. just happy i got there early enough not to get a ticket. they are very intrusive and handing out a lot of fines i was there. i like it to keep people safe but at the same time they basically shut down the boat launch due to writing so many tickets.
