I'm a little late in getting this report sent out, but I had a guide trip on June 12 with Aric Mak. We spent a little bit of time chasing largemouth up in the north end of the lake, but after that didn't really pan out we switched up to smallies by working dropshot rigs off the end of deeper docks around the lake. Fishing wasn't exactly on fire, but we did manage to put 6 decent smallies in the boat. Aric hadn't had much experience with a drop shot rig, so with many of the smallies in a post spawn mode, and others still protecting bedding areas, the docks closest to deeper water definitely seemed to be the ticket. Aric's 3+ smallmouth in the picture actually had a very large tail fin sticking out of it's throat, which unfortunately, I forgot about and didn't get a picture of it. I couldn't tell what it was but judging from the tail size alone it had to be a good 8 inches long! All fish were caught on dropshot rigs, with a combination of Sniper Bolts in dark brown, and Roboworms in the sculpin color. Water temps stayed around the mid 60 mark most of the day.
It didn't take Aric too long to get the hang of drop shotting and he even let me catch one too! :)
tight Lines!
