Me and my buddy Michael decided to head out today. The weather was cloudy for the most part but then it started to clear up as the time goes on. I threw a KVD red eye shad in sexy sunfish color. We started at ivars and kinda worked our way to the north end part of the lake. Caught a nice smallie at the canoe launch by those big chunk rocks. He used them as an ambush point cause right when i passed a little opening in the rocks he slammed it. After that i tied on a Zman Chatterbait to give it a try cause i never really liked it before or used it so we headed back to Ivars area and after like 50 casts in the same spot this nice female hit it.. Im guessing i ran over its nest a lot...... there was no ambush point whatsoever just out in the openwater about 5-8 ft. Got the video on youtube check it out(LippinSmallmouth) All in all we caught a total of 3 fish..... 2 for me and 1 for my bud michael he caught it on a white spinnerbait.

Does anybody know if these fish are in prespawn mode or spawn mode? its seems to be about both.............. post spawn definately for the big smallies though
