Ok, Today is one of the most Bizarre Fishing trips that I have done Ever!!!!
I arrived at the launch 1/2 hour early to Prep the boat..I launch the boat, secured it to the dock and Proceed to pull the trailer out to the parking area..
I walk back down the Dock to the boat and as I step down in the boat, A Furry Brown Animal was all Tangled up in my Fish Net on the Floor with a Rapala in its mouth.. I literally Screamed out Loud!!
As I was Parking my Trailer, A "Mink" decided to jump in the Boat and liked the looks of the Rainbow Trout Rapala attached to a Fishing Rod, so he gave it a chomp and well I can now tell you that 20lb. Test Mono is not Strong enough to hold a "3" pound Mink. I finally got him all untangled from the net, (OK, he got himself all untangled) while I was still in shock. the Critter Jumped out of the boat and ran down the Dock and into the water with my Rapala!!!!!
So right off the start I knew I was in for a very unusual fishing Adventure.
We started on the Shallow Hump on Mack Bar( using the Ace Hi-Fly), where I had fished the evening before and sure enough the Laketrout were on the Bite Again. We boated 3 nice Lakers the first pass. So I turned the boat around a proceeded right back over the Hump and Whammmo!!! We hooked up on a Really Big Fish!!!! I cleared all Rods and put the Kicker motor in reverse to Back to the fish. We battled this Big Bad Boy for 25 min. and in the net it went..Tipped the Scales at 29lbs. 14 oz., 40.5 inches in Length..I truly thought this fish was "Walter" all during the Battle..But it turned out to be "Wilma" it was a Female. This Laketrout is the 2nd Biggest that I have boated in my 8 yrs as a Guide. We ended with 10 Laketrout!!!! Unbelieveable Fishing Trip!!!! Tight Lines to All and be Safe!!!
