Well, we hit American a little late(due to 7:00 a.m. gate opening at lakewood park!) and fishing was slow( after our friend John forgot to put his drain plug in on the launch and we had to turn on the bilge pump!), trolling a glow sepps flasher with wedding ring and maggots wasn't turning on the bite, neither was an apex or a bit of worm. Melanie was trolling a gold little cleo and had a fat 13 incher or so on a flat line within 15 minutes. Having a two rod license I pulled one rod off the downrigger and set it up for flatlining a gold strobe spoon, Bam, nice koke on. Melanie had three more hits but they threw the hook at the surface right away. John picked up one on a gold spoon with red eyes(!) at 30 ft. but that was it for the day, I feel if we had flatlined all the rods we would have done better, we saw a LOT of fish on the surface. More than a few jerks driving by at 10 or 20 yards away at full throttle, raising 2 ft. wakes. The screwed up thing is that they weren't water skiers, they were fishermen who didn't seem to care about other people fishing. And they were trolling for Kokes! It does't take more than a moment or two to slow down and be polite, if you were out yesterday you know who I mean, I'd like to think people on this site wouldn't treat other fisher folks this way, but I know better. Happened at the Quinalt derby as well, two yahoos in a small boat come right into the upper river area within 10 yards of our boat and another at full throttle, spooking fish and raising a 1 to two ft. wake. Really rotten manners. Called for the bird yesterday but we were having a nice day and didn't want to spoil the mood, but next time I WILL not be so forgiving. Bob R.

Thanks for the report and interesting observation on using spoons vs. regular for this lake dodger/spinner combo. I noticed the same recently. Also, majority of boats like to stick at north end, kokes are spread all over the lake. Get the point.

I know what you mean. However the full throttle should mean a boat running on step, so I would not expect wakes. On other side I do see a lot of people on this lake (usually larger boats) who likes to plow at low speed (up to 10 mph). Be polite and get on step or keep it slow not to cause the wake.
