My buddy Tony and I went out to Tapps to try for some smallmouth. We fished from shore using mainly senkos. Started by the North park by the boat launch with nothing to show. WE fished for probably 4 hours. We walked all over that park and only caught 2 little dinks. Tried a few misc other baits but that didnt help to produce anymore fish. Can anybody tell me were and maybe what to use at Tapps form the shore? Thanks

There really isn't much shore access anymore thanks to the d-bags from cascade water alliance who are all mayors that closed down all dikes around the lake. The sidewalk on the boatlaunch side of the park will produce if you cast about 40 to 50 feet off shore. That water is 18-24 feet deep and you will do good with 3-4 inch senkos on a drop shot rig. good luck

Hey guys...those dikes have had no trespassing signs on the concrete mounts for years. Just asking here..wasn't North Park closed on Wednesday and Thursday? The only place you can really fish from shore is down by Allen Yorke when the North Park is closed. Lotsa a smallies on the south end of the lake. See yah, Todd

I fish off shore at the south end of the lake; I've caught decent size rockbass and almost landed a tiger musky when he stole my small rockbass (now my life's ambition on gettin him!!!) If you take South Tapps Drive E, find Maryann Dr E (if you're coming FROM Allen Yorke, it'll be on the right; if you're coming FROM Sumner-Tapps Hwy, it'll be on the left). Follow Maryann to 56th St E - it'll be the 3rd road on your left. Follow 56th down a small hill and off to your right there will be the causeway - Causeway Rd E. There are "no parking" signs on the little gravel pull-out, but in the years I've been fishing there I haven't had a single problem. Also, if you walk a little farther down Causeway Rd E, there's a second "bridge" - that's where I catch my rockbass. Surprisingly enough, I catch a lot on Kastmasters and Roostertails, just cast and reel. I've caught some small catfish with basic drop shot rigs using worms and trout Powerbait. Good luck and happy fishing!
