After fishing Lake Riley and Lake Sixteen both yesterday in the sun and only getting 2 small trout, I wasn't expecting to do any better today, but I was wrong. The original plan was to hit Lake Goodwin early, but considering the boat launch fee and the amount of traffic that would be on the water, I made a last minute decision to hit Cavanaugh instead. Launched the boat around 8 am with only 3 other trucks in the parking lot. Water was like glass so I was happy as I only have a 12' boat w/ elec. trolling motor. Started trolling one rod with a wedding ring and 1/2 oz weight 25 pulls out and the other rod with an apex trout killer and 1/4oz weight 40 pulls out. Didnt even take 10 mins before the rod with the wedding ring went down. Got the first koke in the boat and put the line back in the water. Well, long story short the rod with the wedding ring and juiced up corn ended up getting about 6 kokes in the boat while i swapped out about 4 different rigs on the other rod, so I finally got smart and rigged up another wedding ring. That did the trick and we got our limit right when the ski boat traffic started to pick up. We were out of there by 11am with 10 kokes all around 11-12". Oh yea, thanks "The Quadfather" for recomending trolling the middle of the lake. All the fish we caught were between the middle of the lake and the boat launch.
