Got out on Silver shortly after noon. The warm weather has brought out the masses..... It was crazy busy. Saw three follows in the 2:00 hour and boated a healthy 44 1/4" tiger near three o'clock. Great fight! She tried to come out of the water twice. The condition of this fish (lean, but healthy) and the way she took it (she inhaled it) tells me we are in for some fun times in the next few weeks. She was defininately out for a meal to fatten up. Although I didn't throw a tape on her for girth, she was likely about 17". She could stand to put a few pounds on this summer, and I am sure she will. Great day, less the boat traffic.

wow nice fish Doug... my brother and his buddy caught a nice 42 incher on the south end cruz'n really shallow ...they caught that one on a spinnerbait... do most guys just use spinner baits? ...I have heard of some guys using big spoons too...I am almost done with finals up the road here at EWU and would like to try to nail one soon... thanx for the post, keep it up!

I use just about everything. Several of my last fish have come off a Mepps Muskie Killer. I also am big on crank baits like Rapala Magnums, and Depth Raiders. Spoons work very well too. Probably the biggest factor is keeping the lure in the water. If you take 5 minutes out of every 20 to change lures and rest, you lose 15 minutes every hour. You are probably more likely to hook up or at least see follows if you keep the lure moving and in the water. Changing lures every so often isn't bad, but try to limit your change time by having another rod already set up to cast. It looks like I am catching a lot of fish, but honestly I am putting a lot of time on the water. I have put nearly 80 hours on this spring. Only 5 fish to show for it so far. Granted, three have been 40" or more now....
