Went to potholes with the single pontoon this time. Figured there would be less of a crowd in the afternoon of the last day of the Memorial Day weekend. Honor and thanks to those who have served.
Somewhat slower than usual, but in spite of being pounded for 3 days, caught 22 largemouth, 6 smallmouth and 2 crappie. 8 of the largemouth were over 18" and on smallie went 16". Purple oversized plastic worms were best, jigs second in earthtones. A bit windy, but manageable. Met a neat couple who were remeniscing about 70's bassing on Banks and Potholes. Kinda fun to relive some of it.
Ultra-accurate casting and SLOW beginning to the retrieve were absolute necessities. If you were half a foot away from the structure you could just as well reel in!
Favorite cast of the day: Casted over a limb and danced the worm up and down for about 2 minutes (that's 3 years in fishing time) and the biggest bass of the day nailed it when it was about 10" off the water! She was 23" and ready to pop!
The pix aren't the best, but alone in a pontoon...

It's been a great year for size. So far one well over 9 lbs and one at 8.75, with several over 6! I've seen others with good ones, too. Good fishing!

A couple. It seems they are all over the place from this weather.
