5/31/2011 2:40:00 PMA guide is not needed on the lake or upper river,just on lower river(from lake to the ocean).A tribal license is needed for the lake, $35 for the year, I think it's $10 for a couple of days.You also need an annual boat permit, another $10. Neither is required on derby day, with purchase fo derby ticket.It's a good way to try the lake out, past reports on Lake Quinault should give you a heads up on fishing there. 5/31/2011 5:22:00 PMThanks for the report Bob. Eight in a day is a very good day on Lake Quinault in my book. I was skunked there this weekend but I was fishing from a dock and along the shore. You're trolling spoons with a downrigger, do you tip it with a worm? We normally are fishing the north shore from Kiwanis east. If you don't mind sharing, what do you find to be some good spots around the lake.

5/31/2011 5:52:00 PMNo, we don't use worms or bait although we do use smelly jelly sometimes.Working the various creek mouths (Falls, Gatton, etc.) is a good place to start, we also find them suspended in the lake sometimes, a good bottomfinder is a big help. bob r
