Fished the pads at the north end. Got the first 1 1/2 pounder on a minnow bait thru the pads. Got the second and third on a spinnerbait thru the pads, they were both pretty much in the same exact same spot and both grabbed the spinnerbait almost as soon as it hit the water. Earlier caught a squaw fish on a deep diving crankbait in the general area of a piling in deep water, yes that was on a casting outfit. HaHaHa :-) No pictures, weren't big enough for pictures this time. Nuttin off the few docks we fished. Whoops, one small 8" smallie off a dock, on the crankbait, and one SMALL rainbow/steelhead/salmon smolt thingie on the crank before getting to the docks. It was in about 2-3 feet of water.

Since I'm still new to bass, would you call the Sammamish fish, prespawn, spawn, post spawn or a little of multiple stages? I'm guessing here: I think Stan Coffin bass, a week ago, were in 2 phases. Some, few, were on beds, committed to stay, usually paired up(male & female) or very close to it. Some, most, were prespawn still gorging on bait fish in deeper water, 6 to 10 feet, I couldn't see these deeper fish til they hooked up. I'm guessing at the gorging due to the occaisional jumping in mass of blue gills, just like herring in the salt. Thanks!

Definitly prespawn. Didn't see a single bed. The water temps were 56 at the highest wherever we went. The squawfish were in/over deep water. Didn't get any bass bites in deep water. Didn't check the one area I was going to look to see if the smallies were spawning there like they usually do. Forgot to look.

Thanks! It's been one cold year! I'm looking forward to learning some more about bass in Lake WA. The Kenmore ramp is just a couple miles away and it's the right price to launch. Sammamish has better fishing though it sounds like. Cheers Tom!
