GREAT day on Lake Stevens, (especially for a wannabe fishermen). First time to take the boat out by myself (18' Duckworth Advantage), on the lake around 6am, had a double by 6:15, caught 6 total. All fish caught in the 13' to 15' depth range, everyone I talked to who were catching fish were at about the same depth range, fish are still shallow.
Caught 3 on the downrigger set at 13', pink/green wedding ring, single hook, small pink sparklie spinner, 4/0 hammered chrome dodger, (same rig caught 4 on Saturday at 13'). 3 others caught on leaded line, 2 full colors in the water, double whammy wedding ring pink/green w/small hammereed chrome spinner behind a UV sling blade. All rigs tipped with corn.
I caught 4 of the fish trolling east/west along the north end in 80' to 110' of water, Caught all fish trolling west, then turned towards the areator and caught 2 heading south along the east edge of the areator, then turned east 7 north and headed back along north shore. Interestingcaught all fish headed counter clockwise (west & south). I lost at least 5 that I got an eye on and several more just missed a hook up.
Unfortunatley I can't make the tourney tomorrow, good luck to all!

Nice. I was surprised to see your report since the derby tomorrow. I drive by every day and see lots of boats out and know a few that are WL members. I thought they would have been deeper with all that traffic out there. Im waiting for my boat to get back from the shop so I can hit it. Thanks for the great detailed report.

I have all the equipment, try real hard, go to seminars, yet do not have a lot of time to fish, and think I must smell bad because the fish usually don't like me.
Actualy though it's a name that started many years ago, about 34 years ago. My brother and I stopped by (I think' it's called Ted's) Ted's on 99 in Lynnwood to buy fishing licenses and get some advice. The guy behind the counter was a bit of an as@#ole and was very condesending, I think he thought he was Gods gift to the fishing world? His first comment to us was something along the lines of, "you look like casual fishermen", my brother & I were fairly insulted and decided we would be wannabe (want to be) fishermen. To this day I refuse to go back to Teds!

Hey Wannabe,

Sorry to hear about your bad experience so long ago at Ted's. I've been a customer of Ted's a little more than a year and have seen firsthand the care they give customers, from beginners to old salts. All the staff is knowledgeable and will give you as much time and help as you need. I know some old wounds don't heal, but if you can find it in your heart, you might find they have become a first class place to get fishin' stuff and information.

Good luck on the water!!!!!!
