I saw a few bass boats pre-fishing a specific area for the NW Bass tournament outside my house on Lake Washington over the weekend. My buddy and I decided to take my pontoon out yesterday morning to check it out and found four smallmouths ranging from 2-4 pounds in about an hour's worth of jigging. We kept and ate all of them (JUST KIDDING). All fish released uninjured.

Why whould'nt you eat em? Bass are good. Whould you eat a perch or a crappie? What makes a Bass such a noble creature?

Just a personal stance ... there's a bass tournament in less than two weeks so I feel it's bad etiquette to keep those bass since I was "stealing" their pre-fishing areas. Not that I would normally keep my bass - I always catch and release to do my part to keep one of the top sport fish's population plentiful and fat.

cast and blast, you can keep them if you want, just make sure you follow rules, only one smallie over 12".

Please let the big bass go this time of year, not just for sport, but for future fisheries. They're getting ready to do their thing.

Another thing to think about is that large bass in Lake Washington are old, and they'll accumulate contamination over the years. If you want to keep any bass, I suggest eating the smaller ones.

Kazoo has valid points concerning keeping and eating bass. If bass suits your taste buds.

I hav'nt kept a bass in years. I was just saying if you like bass it's not the end of the world to eat one once in a while. especially in a lake that has wild Salmon and Steelhead smolt in it.
