Imagine: A "Mental Health Holiday" (the unofficial title of "A Day Off From WORK") led to a Trout Trifecta at Williams Lake!

NO ONE was at the boatlaunch when we arrived; of course, the ramp was still flooded (what the...? Someone lost a TAILLIGHT on it) and, undaunted, we slid the boat into the 1-degree warmer lake--- and onward! to fish again! Third day in a row!

The lake's surface was screeded by a slight breeze, which made it hard to see exactly where that little 'island', presently submerged, was. We located it by careful observation of the fish finder and verified when we located it by my losing my lure on it (the tradition of losing a lure at this lake continues). Until that island re-emerges, a buoy would help mark it to prevent the grief that boaters, unfamiliar with the lake's bottom profile, can get by having their outdrive bang into an underwater obstacle.

The fish seemed more active today, as evidenced by the increased interest in our lures (after I had replaced mine. The Same To You.) My fishing log, containing carefully-gleaned information painstakingly gathered over years of fishing our area lakes and expertly gathered into neatly-stacked piles of disordered pages (single-spaced), covering the desk of my home office, shows a trend towards increased fish activity, as a function of NIBBLES on 'offerings', when the water temperature increases. When the water temperature gets over 62 degrees, the activity starts fading-out gradually... Who said fishing isn't educational? Of course, water temperature is just ONE variable in the complex formula that is fishing--- but it was the only variable we worked on today. Other variables: Lure type, color, size; Which HAND holds the fishing pole; The use of the 'color crayon' tongue while reeling-in a fish (you know what I mean!); our famous "snack" study; the "joke" hypothesis; the "position on the seat in the boat" theory--- just to name a few. We even did a study on "getting soaked" on another lake... today we used the same lures as yesterday. And the day before. And as my disclaimer: The data collected works for US (and results cannot be guaranteed)

Speaking of today--- The Other Guy In The Boat caught a 17" rainbow triploid, a hefty sumo wrestler of a fish! I was busy hauling-in my own 13" carryover rainbow to applaud. There were just a few other fishermen on the lake today, hopefully enjoying similar experiences (except the losing the lure part) Excelsior!! We caught our limits on Williams Lake again. We DID have FUN.
