Back to Williams Lake! We arrived at 6:00 a.m.--- the sun had just popped up over the ancient basalt waterfall cliffs to the east (Geology 101). Clear skies; an absolutely mirror-flat lake surface greeted the boat as we pushed out away from the still-flooded (imagine that--24 hours earlier it was flooded, too.) We went to several other places on the lake during this fishing adventure--- one of the spots (no, not Tree 11) was a cliffside that yielded a 17" rainbow trout to my tried-and-true offerings. It was found later to have enjoyed a CRAWFISH dinner before I caught it. Maybe the fish thought of it as a Williams Lake LOBSTER... But, once again, I digress. There were AGAIN snacks provided in our boat's galley; I only nibbled at one of those EPIC molasses cookies we get at a place in Libby, MT. The fish were nonplussed, I think it was because the water temperature is too cool for them to go ballistic like they do later in the fishing season. A mayfly show may also act to get them fish a-movin'... It has been a LOOONG winter and Spring seems to be taking its sweet time to arrive. Today, however, had Spring plastered all over it. I saw that white bird overhead again... on the journey to Williams Lake we got a glimpse of an ELK HERD (10 of 'em) near the road, standing and watching US watch them. A bit further down the road, we saw a herd of 8 MULE DEER as they crossed the road. In our fieldcraft manual, it states that the journey is as important as the destination (and that's my story and I'm sticking to it) The sun felt GREAT and the near-absence of any wind was a plus, too. We, the BBs of BL caught our limits of delicious fish courtesy of the gracious, generous beauty of Williams Lake, the efforts of the WDFW (Thanks, guys 'n gals!), and my fellow BB--and BOAT OWNER (I had to put that in--- he's looking over my shoulder as I write this). P.S.: To The Guys We Saw Do It And KNOW We Saw You Do It--- Please DON'T throw your trash into the lake--- take it with you.

I like to point those people out verbally. Loud enough so that anyone within earshot can see who I'm talking about. I might say something like, " Hey, you in the 15' Smokercraft with the Mercury engine and vessel number WN56XXNW wearing the red plaid shirt and green hat, Please stop throwing your trash in our lakes." "The picture I took of you doing it will be deleted if I see you swing around and pick it up." "Thank You!"
