Since the forecasted rain was not much this morning, I walked to the lake again to spin cast. Got started at 06:30, stopped at 10:30. At my first casting spot, at about 06:45, I hooked a stout 13" brown trout. I had just loosened the drag some, just in case, and was glad I did. It was a fun fight with him taking out line a few times. I took a photo then let him go back since he was in good shape. Worked clockwise again down the east shore, but got no hits for a long time. Made my way past the shell rowing boat house, where I finally got another strike, but it caught me off guard and no hookup. Doubled back. On the 64th street t-dock, I managed to bring a small 8" planter to hand, on the same kastmaster that the brown bit. In fact, I never switched to any other lure today. And that was it. Hopped on a city bus towards home when I got too hungry for breakfast.

I was tossing the same type of Kastmaster on Friday but all they did was follow it back..... and then I got miffed with that and switched to Power eggs....

actually that looks like a triploid~ I caught one last year over at Park lake and after showing it around was corrected and after seeing pictures of browns realized they were right. nice looking fish though~ great job!

A very slow retrieve seem to help entice strikes. Bring it back real slow where it wobbles a lot. I too like to camp out in a chair and still fish, but sometimes I like to get a little exercise too and walk around the lake. I also like that you get to feel every nibble when spin casting, instead of watching a rod tip.

No ResQ, that would be a brown. Notice the bluish halos around the spots on gillplate. No red cutt marks under gills either.

I agree, it is definitely a Brown. I caught a 15" fish a few weekends ago (my first brown from Greenlake). The coloration is a little different than other browns I have caught from other places, and I had to look real close to be sure it was a brown.....it was. By the way, I released it.
