Took the boat out for it's spring test. Fished for bass and crappie for a couple of hours with my son. Not a nibble. We worked the docks, wood, and down to 30 feet with no luck. Wind was wicked...hard to get out of it. Water is high (be careful of rock point) and temp was 44 degrees. Good outing with the boy...he got to pull the truck/boat out of the water for the first time...big smiles. Best of luck to everyone this season. Catch and Release!

Thanks for the report VAFishinWA, I'm headed out that way tomorrow (day off) to Fairchild for some business with boat in tow, planned on hitting Silver in the afternoon, spent the last few weeks tuning up the boat, time for it's spring test too. Was wondering if you tried the south end of the lake...

Just saw your question, if you get it before you go out..... Was out April 1st and April 6th. The south end of the lake is great for getting around (usually choked with weeds by early summer). Expected to find some tigers in the warmer water. Water was slightly warmer, and very warm (comparing to the rest of the lake) in the little bays in the sw corner. No luck on the bass down there. I was targeting tigers, but using smaller lures that day like husky jerks, small spinners. Usually tag loads of bass with that stuff as side catch to the tigers. Nothing while I was down there. Seems like most fish I spotted on the depth finder are all in 15-20' of water near shore, around the wood. Did tag a tiger on Wednesday, still no bass. Water temps Wednesday were back down in the 41-42 degree range, since wave action was mixing it up pretty good. It was a dicey day due to wind. Today should be great, although I have to work. =( I will be back out there Saturday.

ilv2fish...we did spend a little time at the south end of Silver. dougw is right about the weeds. If you're going to fish that end, now is the time. With my motor trimmed up, I easily got back to the break just before the island. We tried for crappie down there with small jigs (casting and vertical) with no luck. Hard to mark any fish with the heavy weeds covering the bottom everywhere. I would guess we only spent about 45 minutes on the south end. Today is going to be a great day though, as long as the wind stays down. Good luck to both of you!
