Well i was finally able to get the boat in the water for the first time this year. Although it was only for a few hours. I went to Silver Lake, launched and was on the water by 4:00 pm. Water temp was 43.8 degrees and the wind was light. Fished in 35 feet of water and was able to land three smallmouth to 2lbs. One on a dropshot and two on a wacky rig senko. Was pretty cold by about six so we left. But had fun.

How sure are you that it was smallmouth?

There's plenty of smallies. I always catch a few when fishing the deep rocks for tigers.

I live about 10 minutes away from Silver and fished it a bunch. Never caught or saw a smallie come of it. I'll definitely start targeting them in the future.

I've fished Silver a bunch, too, and never caught any smallmouth. I've heard reports, though. There probably are a few smallmouth in there.

Last year i read a report of a guy catching a 4-5 lb smallie out of there. Go back and check it out.

Had to ask. I know there are even Walleye in there, but not by design and not by the choice of the F@W. I have caught tons of Tigers, LMB, Crappie, Perch, a few TENCH, few gills, and a few years ago bows and browns, but never a SMB.

Guess a picture would help, but I'll try to target them as well and see what I can do.
