I caught 1 lost 1. Best day this year weather wise (sun burn). My compadre caught 7 and the biggest was 18". He lost 1 that he foul hooked that would have gone 20" at least. It was too big for the net. Caught all on chronomids in about 10' of water.

Not bad at all for an ice free fly fishing trip.

Did you get a water temperature?

If past years are any indications, water temp is probably 40 or so.

It was hand-numbing, breath-taking, too dang cold to swim. That's all I can tell you for sure. I got the fish finder out to use it, but left it on the door step.

I was out on Amber on the 22nd. I saw lots of fish landed, mostly on chironomids. One fella was trolling and orange spoon and did pretty well. I measured surface water temp in the shallows at 44 degrees. There was almost no wind all day long.
