After reading Yakivegas most recent Fio Rito lake fishing report, my girl Pammy wanted to get in on the trout catching action so we headed up there at O'dark thirty this morning to troll for some trout, My new boat cart made launching a breeze and except for a few bank anglers we pretty much had the lake to ourselves. It wasn't long before Pam had her first fish, a fat 12 inch trout off of the north end of the island. I experimented with a gold/red Diawa crankbait but had no takers. It wasn't until I had rigged up a frog colored F5 flat fish and worm that I caught my first trout. We were trolling down the East bank in 11 feet of water when Pam's Lamiglass trolling rod doubled over. "Jiggy, I'm snagged ! " she cried. So I backed up the boat to get off of it. Thats when her "Snag " came alive and line started peeling off her baitcaster's drag. I followed her fish half way across the lake before it came up to say"Howdy." Man what a brute! She had hooked a huge rainbow trout. I managed to scoop it up in the net then the rain started pouring down, so we ended up calling it an early day. We were a few fish short of a limit, but Pam's monster more than made up for it! Tight lines. Jiggy
