My wife and I went our in the afternoon and fished for Perch until dark. It was a nice change of pace from the heavier gear we have been using all summer
while salmon/bottom fishing Neah Bay and Puget Sound all summer.

We dropped anchor at our usual spot at the north end of the lake, in 43 to 45 feet of water and still fished with plastic jugs tipped with perch meat.
This is definitely one type of fishing that never changes and always produces results (at least it has for the last 30 years or so...) It makes little if any difference what color
your jig is, the most important thing is making sure it is within an inch or so of the bottom.

When the large schools surround my boat and black-out my fishfinder, the fishing is fast and successful : - ) If there is no action on your pole the answer is simple .... they stole your bait !!
Perch are great thieves and can easily remove a chuck of bait from any hook. You have to get a ' feel ' them and act accordingly, you will hook a lot more.

October is the best month for perch fishing this lake and the average size fish is quite large compared to most other lakes. We caught one 13" and three
around 12" while keeping a bucket full containing none under 7". I usually fillet perch and pan fry them with 1/2 cornmeal and 1/2 flour coating.
The best way to fry them is low and slow in oil, or we also have a couple favorite recipes which are perch casseroles.

I have to say after all these years fishing, catching and eating various different fishes ..... Perch is right up there for table quality.
