This is kind of a late report, but better late than never. I fished Offut Lake from the dock for one hour Tuesday morning before the ice-rain started to fall. I had the whole dock to myself, probably due to the impending ice rain. I fished orange powerbait about 30 inches off the bottom.
About five minutes before the weather turned nasty I caught a nice little stocker bow, 10-11 inches. The hook barely caught it in the right side of the mouth, so it was released before I hightailed it back to the car. I was very happy to catch my first trout of the year in February in under an hour on the water. I look forward to hopefully getting back to Offut in March and April, as the fish appear to be pretty active.
