Fish at Eloika have become considerably active, but I have had difficulty finding larger fish lately. Saturday we left with 12 keepers from 8-10 inches. Sunday, with clear skies, we managed only 4 keeper perch and one large pumpkinseed. The catch was consistent, and the Vexilar sure was helpful both days. The trick was to jig quickly to bring fish in, then stop the bait for up to 20 seconds to get a bite. Toward evening we were pleasantly surprised to catch a short crappie, then another, and another. We ended up weeding though a dozen or so short crappies before we started catching some with good size. Between the four of us, we took home 12 fish, some decent crappies mixed in. Beside the misty rain Saturday, and the cold wind Sunday, it was a great weekend spent with friends on the ice.

It was 15 to 18 feet of water on the northeast side of the lake past Jerry's Landing
