Fished the north end of the lake from 0800-1500. Caught my biggest perch this season at the shallow north end and the biggest pickerel as well. Migrated a little more southeast where we fished as a group with other anglers. Fairly non-stop action in 9' of water (ton of weeds), but now I know what steel_lee was talking about culling tiny perch; Caught the smallest perch I've ever hooked this season - over and over again. We're talking 2" (trout fry-sized) up to 6" that kept eating our maggots. At least the action kept us entertained. Fish fed all day long (unlike at Silver). Also caught a few dink bass as well - smallest I've caught all season. We'd found dink city. Scratched out a baker's dozen of keepers. Having maggots was key; Dropped to the bottom, reeled up one rotation; No jigging really. Dang pickerel bit me off jigging 2lb test; 4lb works better for those toothy buggers since they hit hard and swallow those lures whole.
8"+ of cloudy ice pretty much all over the lake - toughest drilling all season. It's slick out there, so bring your ice cleats, but makes for easy pulling of the sled.
Hordes of turkeys all over the place; One which met it's untimely demise on the ice judging by the scattered feathers and gore in one spot. Also at another spot saw a ton of blood on the ice, spots of gore and one foreleg from a deer. Looks like somebody's eating well on the ice. Bald eagles aplenty. Airplane landed on the lake while we were fishing again; Thought they'd mow me down when I was exploring the lake.
