After being rained out at Cavanaugh we wound up for the afternoon at Lake Stevens. Over cast finally stopped pouring, windy still. Headed out to the area which the aerator is located in, trolled some circles around the aerator. Trolled various Needlefish, wedding rings, what have you....
Think I had one realistic bite, head shake. Then at one point had a strange experience. Fishing in 145' of water, at 40' down on the ball.. I come out of the clip and appear to be snagged. I had to wheel the boat around to run back over where the line went down,, to reverse off the snag. I get right over it and I'm pulling up and reeling, when suddenly it starts pulling back, and line is coming off the reel. I fish with a super fast action Koke rod, it's wirey whip. rod is doubled over and yes line is going out, I feel head tugs?? Then the boat is blowing around in the wind,,, next thing I know I am wrapped around my friend's DR cable. Got that undone,, now I appear to be compelty stuck. I wind up breaking it off right at the Needlefish lure. So what the hey,,,, I'm cornfused. I would have sworn that I had some really large fish on there due to the pulling of line,, but then suddenly I was completly stuck and self broke it off. Maybe I was snagged , maybe a large fish ran me into a snag, I don't know. Never had a bite the rest of the night. 1 other angler was still fishing.

Sounds like you could have snagged into a dead head they can feel like a big fish once you get some motion on em you never know if they will float or sink...

Quad, shore power comes in from the north shore to the aeration system. It isn't on the bottom and you'll hook it with your gear if you are fishing 30' to 40' down and maybe shallower.

G-man,, Yeah, well that had be it! I was thinking, "How the hell can I be snagged when I'm at 45' in 145' of water?" Then as far as the taking out line goes.... it was such a storm out there we were blowing all over, no doubt that is was drift from the wind. LOL. But you are right,, I was on the N. side of the aerator and at that depth. ( If anyone has any questions as to where the tie down cables are for the 520 bridge... I can give you perfect directions for locating those with your d.r. balls also) (-: !!

Thats too bad and good to know now were the power comes from for that aeration sys is I was wondering. Ive fished stevens a few times and havent had much luck with trout but that could be because I was targeting koks. The wind dose play tricks on this lake as well. It can look calm but be windy on the lake. Pink seems to work the best that Ive tested. Bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work. Thanks for the reports

I have hooked that cable in the past too. I won't troll from one side of the aerator to the other on that North side for fear of hooking it, I have hit is in 20 feet on the DR before. You can safely run at most any depth on the 3 other sides though. If you were targeting trout, not kokanee, I have heard that the South end (shallower end) is a good trout area and it is mostly a still fishing game.

In the colder months i wont troll the lake for trout, just sit still and keep warm
