I decided to head out to Seward Park in the late afteroon, around 5 pm, since it was nearly 60 degrees and mostly sunny for the first time in a while. I had the intention of fishing for only an hour.

About 30 minutes in I threw a crappy cast about 10 feet in front of me and started reeling in quick to reload but as soon as my crankbait hit the water it got slammed. I'm guessing the fish was at least three pounds by the quick look of it. The thing nearly pulled my rod out of my hands because it caught me off guard. Just as I'm bringing the bass into shore he frees himself and darts back into the weeds. Needless to say, I was extremely pissed because this would have been the largest bass I had found in this particular spot. 30 minutes later I decide to head back to my car. When I arrive I see my keys sitting in my back seat inside my locked car, which made me even more pissed. I called my girlfriend but she is in class and always leaves her phone off so I think I'm stuck their until 8 pm (it's currently 6 pm).

This allowed me to go round two with mr. largie. I walk back to my fishing hole, which is about 10 minutes away and first cast I land a fish that weighed exactly one pound. By this team it's getting really dark so the picture is not very clear. 40 minutes later I landed an even bigger one, 1 pound 10 ounces. Unfortunately my BlackBerry couldn't get a picture of this fish.

Eventually my girlfriend called me back and wound up dropping off the spare key at 7:30. I guess I'm a little glad my keys go locked in there - at least I didn't get skunked!

I've been going with natural looking baits, dark-green reflective sides with white underbelly has been working the best.

Thanks for the comments guys!
