I've fished Union a few times since my last report but I don't want to make them seem so redundant so I'm only posting reports for when there is something new to say.

So here it is..

I FINALLY CAUGHT MY FIRST BLACK CRAPPIE OUT OF LAKE UNION!!! :D
That alone is making me rate this day a 5 :)

Everytime I have fished here, I have wanted to catch a Black Crappie above all other species.
I FINALLY Accomplished that today.
Funny thing is, I caught this Crappie on a Drop Shot Rig when I was fishing for Bass / Panfish.
So when I pulled out a Crappie I was shocked, excited, thrilled, stoked, you name it.
I was ecstatic!

I didn't use a measuring tape but I know the distance from my finger tip to wrist is 8 inches and it was a little more than an inch longer than that so I would say that this Crappie is a solid 9 inches, maybe 9 1/2.

After that, I caught a bunch of fish but the fishing has been getting progressively slower and slower.
None of them fish really had much size, pretty much all dinks but it's still a lot of fun.
I switched between using a 1/32 oz tube jig and a Drop Shot Rig with worms.
Both methods produced.
I thought the fish would be in deeper water with teh water being cold but I caught most of my fish fairly close to the bank.
It seems like they are still holding tight to the weedline / structure even in this colder weather.

While we were fishing, a GIANT MASSIVE BEAVER came out from under the dock and scared the crap out of me and my friend.
Also, when I was cruising the shoreline to check out the structure I saw a HUGE HUGE HUGE FISH splash and dart away from shore towards the dock.
I couldn't see it long enough to see what it was but judging by the bronze color I would say that it was a FREAKING HAWG of a Smallmouth.
Either that or the World Record Rock Bass because this fish was beyond massive.

Also, on my previous trip to Union, I caught another Salmon just like the one I caught before which I am told is a Blackmouth Salmon.
I caught it using a tube jig just like the one I caught the first time.
Interesting..
However this time it didn't completely swallow the jig and was released alive and well.

Forecast predicts rain all weekend so I wanted to get in a night session.

I always forget to mention this in my reports but all fish were caught and released :)
