Ok just to get this straight, I was not targeting Salmon today.
However I did catch one.
The reason I put Salmon as my Targeted Species was because I am by no means in expert in Salmon and wanted to see if someone could help me identify this species.
I believe it is a Chinook, correct me if I am wrong.

I was just using a 1/32 oz white tube jig tipped with nightcrawler and I casted out when someone hit my line and hit it hard.
I was using my Pen Rod with 6 lb line and whatever this fish was took out some line and gave me a wild fight.
When I caught it in close, I was very surprised to see that I had hooked a Salmon.
I immediately knew it was a Salmon and not a rainbow because it had a black tongue and just by the shape of it's mouth.
I measured it at 13 inches and snapped a picture.
As I mentioned, I am no expert in Salmon fishing or regulations, so I did not keep the fish.
However it completely swallowed my jig and killed itself by shaking so savagely when I took it out of the water.
I ended up just tossing it in the water to become food for scavengers because I didn't want to take the risk or breaking any laws.

Anyways, this was at the very end of the night.

For most of the day I was fishing for the usual.

Species Caught:
Largemouth Bass
Smallmouth Bass
Rock Bass
Bluegill
Pumpkinseed Sunfish
Northern Pikeminnow (Squawfish)

I caught 6 Bass today on a crankbait :)
1 of those bass was my first ever Smallmouth Bass on a crankbait.
The other 5 were all Largemouth Bass.
The biggest was approximately a lb or so.
I made about 50 casts before I decided to try something different.
And man oh man did that method pay off!! :D
I made 3 casts and caught 3 Bass using this method!

I also caught a pretty large Squawfish, stomped it and tossed it in the water for the scavengers to feed on.

As I was working my drop shot along the weedline, I get a couple small ticks, and then one giant pull so I set the hook and my adrenaline starts pumping because this fish is really fighting hard.
It was pulling super hard and my first thought was that it was a Smallmouth.
Nope, I was wrong, it was an 8 1/2 inch Bluegill :)

I wasn't goint to post a report since I caught basically the same type of fish all the time but I wanted to post this because of my unusual catch.

Hmmmmmmmm sounds like a good day of fishing good for you! from the looks of it that is a blackmouth maybe even a resident blackmouth was the fin cliped on that ? thanks for the report and keep them coming!

Elijah, nice take on variety of fish. I've caught blackmouth in lake WA. myself. You certainly have pulled in some different species.

and yes i believe the adipose fin was clipped :)

haha perhaps, i don't really target trout / salmon. i still need to catch a crappie out of union but they have been very elusive this fall, i run into a lot of people at this spot who keeps asking the same question, where have all the crappie gone?

Thanks for this and all your posts. ...been a longtime follower of your reports, now I'm a follower of your multi-species approach. I have had more fun fishing this summer (so far) than ever before, and have caught 5 species I'd never caught until this year. I'd love to get a salmonid from shore, but haven't yet, so good on you! I was fishing Seward Park today and saw a pink and white post-spawn salmon cruising in about 1.5 feet of water...2 feet from shore! Startled me - looking for somewhere to die I think.
