Me and my buddy went out to Lake Terrell for the first time on 9-7-10, then again on 9-10-10 and 9-11-10 all late afternoon until just after dark. It rained lightly on us on Saturday for the first two hours but cleared up as the evening went on, water temp. was 66 degrees and the water color was stained

We were fishing topwater baits, mainly big buzz baits with a white and blue skirt and big zora-spooks in trout and baby bass colors, throwing into deep cover, into pockets in the reeds, and as far back in to the lily pads as we could cast on the far north side of the lake. We were using 50# spider wire to handle the abuse of bringing the baits through the cover, and stiff action rods.

Over the three days of fishing we boated 22 bass over 5lb. and lost track of the number of fish under that not even stopping to weigh fish under 4lb., the largest was 7lb. 15oz. Picked up 4 5lb.ers in one small back cut under floating debris in about 10 min. It was a lot of work getting some of the fish out from around the structure hence the 50# braid.
All the fish were released unharmed, had put one in the live well to get photo of two in one shot.

I did go out mid afternoon to try my luck but came up empty until it started to get dark then things heated up. We heard that the lake will be closed to boat fishing starting on 9-16 for the start of hunting season, wish I had found this lake a lot sooner. Looking forward to next spring.

Sounds like work alright. Are you hiring? LOL It sounds like you'll have a hard time matching those outings for quite awhile. Thanks for the report.

We do a lot of our fishing starting at dusk and fish some times until the next morning. I don't understand public launches being closed at night, as long as you are respectful of the areas around homes and keep the noise down there shouldn't be any problems.
We caught more fish on those three days than we have all summer, it was a blast having so many big fish just destroy our buzz baits. Once we got to the far north corner it seemed like just about every cast something would hit your bait.

So the lake is officially closed now ? That sucks, because I never made it up there all year.
