Spent the AM trolling Badger Lake for trout. We started out with leaded line, dodger and chartreuse wedding ring with a worm or maggots and corn. Not much action from around 9 AM till about noon. Fishfinder was marking lots of fish in the southwest end of the lake across from the boat ramp. There were also lots of fish along the rocky walls of the south side of the lake, but the bite was slow. Wind was up, which made it difficult to troll in more than one direction. Around noon things started to pick up. My son caught three small rainbows, about 10 inches each, on a salmon wedding ring with a worm trailer. They were returned to the lake for next year. I had switched to trolling flies and got lots of bumps on a pink fly with a gold head, but was unable to set the hook. I suspect they were more small fish with big appetites. One other guy I spoke to told me he had some luck with a wedding ring tipped with orange and green powerbait trolling at about 0.6 mph. Nice day, but did not meet the high expactations I had for Badger based on previous trips.
