A sincere thanks to those of you who haved helped with lake reports. Today I returned to the water after having mounted a downrigger on the pontoon. The fish were at 30 feet, and the morning was wonderful before the traffic. Those pictured were from 9.5 to 11.0 inches, but they were scrappy and will likely be great on the table. Again, thanks to Chris and others who shared a bit of Washington with a Great Lakes guy. You gave us trout and salmon in the sixties, and many of us have huge gratitude! If ever planning a trip to the Midwest with time to fish, fire an e-mail.

Be well.

cielowalker, glad you're having success here in WA. I recently moved here from the Great Lakes myself and have found the people at Washingtonlakes to be very helpful. Hopefully I'll get on some kokes soon myself :).
Good luck and tight lines

Yooper_fisher...Thanks for the note. I lived in Marquette for 5 years and still have a cabin on Big Bay de Noc. Have to love that whole area. Fish and be well...

Thanks for report, we may hit American again this weekend, were you using real maggots? If so where did you buy them? Other than the GULP version(which hasn't done anything for me yet) I haven't found any in the south sound.1 inch pieces of nightcrawler on green wedding ring worked well there last week, fish were all hooked well, none lost. Good luck to all, try letting picture show itself on your report before clicking on submit. Bob R.

Hey Bob R...
For the first time in my life, I purchased a synthetic or "manufactured" bait in Berkeley's (sp?) Gulp Natural Colored Maggots. This comes after a lifetime of picking crawlers after a rain, dropping minnow traps, throwing cast nets, jigging pilchards, catching pinfish, and more recently, pumping sandshrimp. A nice person at the boat ramp suggested them, and I have found that two on a wedding ring's hook trolled at a snail's pace is lethal. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and today had the Kokanee portion of the paddle wrapped up by 7:00 a.m.ish, and I feel like a little school kid with as fun as it is.
I smurk a bit each time I bait up, and then I chuckle, and then I accept it and thank the guy who shared their "gulp" name!
Peace...
