I got up crack of dawn and made it to Cassidy by 6:45am. Hadn't tried the lake that early this year so thought might catch me a bigun. It was foggy and calm. Got a couple swirls by my top water minnow early but place I had caught them before in afternoon was dead or they were still sleeping. I landed first fish at 8:30am 5" Crappie. 2nd shortly there after 9" Crappie that I could lip and next cast bam 9" Bass. Finally correct species. It was finally starting to get sunny reason I went early and started to warm up on top water. I tried buzz bait and spinner bait early and no hits. I found a pattern fishing behind lilly pads by reeds on east side of the lake and got another 9" Bass. And from same hole after 3 more casts got the Fish of the Day. 14" Bass that was doing his best David Thompson impression. He must of jumped a good 6ft out of the water and jumped another couple of times as well. And yep I had witnesses as I was close to dock that bikers use. Nice fish ties my biggest of the year. I ended up catching 8 Bass 14"/11.5"/9"x2/8" and some dinks, 3 Crappie 10", 9" and 5" and 2 Perch 6-8". 2nd Crappie jumped about 2 or 3 times too guess he wasn't happy about being caught. All fish caught on top water rapala in perch. I released all the fish to grow up. Rate the day a 4 for the jumping fish!
