Well here goes, this is my first time reporting on this web site. Today my wife and I decided to try baker lake for the second time in the last week. The first time I started fishing with 8lb leader and it only took one hit to realize that wasn't strong enough, one fish lost. I switched to 12lb leader and the second hit had the same results. So before todays trip I armed both poles with 20lb main line and 30lb leader. Got to shannon creek lauch about 0600 and joined the floatilia of boats off of noisy creek. Poles in the water about 30min and bang, first fish on, a nice 5lb 6oz sockeye. This time know broken leader. Over the next 4 hr's three more socks, 5lb 7oz, 5lb 11oz and 4lb 11oz. Stayed at 55 ft all day with 00 flasher and a pink B-2 squid. Great day fishing can't wait to go back soon.

Nice report. Congrats. on the learning curve with the leader. At least you were shined upon one last time with your 30 lb leader. (-:

Oddly enough, my last two trips there this last week yielded 8 fish and not one of them took the line off the downrigger ball. We set our lines on medium tension clips, less than half way in to the clip and still the bite was so light we were setting the hook to remove the line from the ball and to get a hook set. So I found these fish to be biting very light. At the boat all but 2 fought very well splashing around and trying to spit the hook. We lost 2 at the boat during those 2 trips but because we were running 30 pound mainline and 30 pound leader we didn't experience breaking off any fish.
