I have been in Vancouver all week helping out my parents and got a break on sunday so I decided to head to Swofford Pond!!
I haven't fished here since 2007 but from what I remember the fishing is AWESOME!
I was hoping it was going to be good today but it wasn't good..
IT WAS INCREDIBLE!!

I fished from 11 am - 3 pm and I caught well over 60 Bluegills!!
I caught 2 that were 9 1/2 inches!!
Now THOSE are what I call BULLGILLS!!

I also caught a couple Yellow Perch and what appeared to be a Kokanee.
Unfortunately the "Kokanee" completely swallowed the hook so deep that I couldn't even see the eye of it and when I lifted it out of the water, it shook so violently that it pretty much killed itself.
I cut the line and tossed it back in and it swam off but then surfaced and floated..

I started off using a tube jig about 2 feet under a small bobber.
I then took off the bobber and was casting and retrieving it back.

Both methods produced a ton of fish!

Throughout the day I saw this MASSIVE CHANNEL CAT that was pushing WELL OVER 24" cruising the shoreline.

I tossed a bunch of stuff at it but it wasn't interested at all.
I'm pretty sure it saw me since it was so close to shore and therefore did not feel like biting anything.
This was the first time i tossed a full nightcrawler in front of a catfish and watched it do nothing loll..

Anyways, if you ever get a chance to make a trip to Swofford Pond.. DO IT!!
There are a lot of Largemouth Bass, Yellow Perch, Brown Bullhead & Channel Cats, Bluegills, Trout, and from what I hear occasionally stocked salmon.

60 bluegills from shore, wow talk about a fun day. I haven't caught a mess of gills in a few years. Man I bet those bass are eating good. I might have to get down there soon.

Nice looking bluegills and great report. I'm obsessed with catching bluegills on dry flies now.

Yeah I was in a boat. I fished the side with all the woods. Lot`s of lay downs on that side. The weeds were pretty bad I can`t imagine how they are now. 90% of swofford is weeds.

@ ChrisB you should definitely make a trip down there! and yeah i agree, i bet the largies go to town on the bluegills! @ Jay K thanks, fly fishing sounds like a lot of fun, it's something i've wanted to learn for a little while now.. :P @ rjn cajun yeah swofford has a lot of weeds. when i was there it seemed like a lot of the weeds had died off and were floating / drifting around but there was still plenty of cover for them to dwell in.

Beautiful fish - just a side note, the only waters we have kokanee in southwest Washington are Yale Reservoir and Merwin Reservoir.
