Met a friend out at Marsh Island near the 520 bridge and Husky Stadium. Looked like a gold mine for bass, but one that took my senko dove into the lillies and i lost everything. My buddy was on the bottom hooked up a carp that snapped his 4 lbs line. Decided to focus on perch instead. so out with the bobber and worms. caught a dozen yellow perch, a couple small pikeminnow (never seen one before today) and one fat bluegill. Never a dull moment when the fish are surface feeding. I need to figure out how to bass fish through heavy milfoil that seems to get caught in everything, including "weedless " rigged plastics. grrrr.

Get some Power Pro braided line... you can pull your geer straight through lilly pad fields.

Heavy test mono or Braided like Quadfather said. Spiderwire is strong for mono. Best to have a dedicated Rod/Reel for this set up otherwise its restring every time you want to fish some lighter line.

I stepped up to braid also, the reel I use has a lock on the drag so I can just crank it in if it get hung on lillys. Then, a couple brisk snaps of the pole at boats edge and the rest of the weeds are cleaned off for next cast.

braided line works wonders! just make sure you tie non slip knots! i found this out the hard way when i hooked into about a 2 lb bass on lake louise, pulled it through some lily's but as i was lifting it into the boat it shook hard and my knot came undone. i was using a clinch knot which i use a lot but that is a big NO NO with braided line! i only use palomar or braid knots now when using braid! i like 30 lb power pro, because it's the same diameter as 8 lb mono and is plenty strong!
