Howdy fellow fishermen and fisherwomen.
Went up to Wapato lake Sat. morning early with my stepdad Jim and boy the Crappie were crazy. We launched at about 6:00am with partly cloudy skies but we figured they would burn off after the sun came out a little later, and they did. We headed up the same side of the lake we launched on trolling with beetle spins. Jim had on a chartruese jig tipped with Crappie nibbles and I had on a clearish gray jig with black speckles tipped with nightcrawler hoping to locate a school of fish. We finally started getting bites a little ways up lake and we decided to anchor and take off the beetle spins and just use the jigs and bobber. As soon as we casted our bobbers started to go under and it was fish on after that for quite a while. We tried all kinds of different colors for jigs and it didn't seem to matter, they all produced. Shortly after 9:00am the bite just died. Maybe because it was getting pretty hot out. We pulled up anchor and fished our way back to the launch and decided to call it a day.We had 24 nice sized crappie, the two biggest being 11"-12",just right for a family fish fry that night. Yum!!! Of course the friendly fishing competition between Jim and I make for a lot of laughs and and some special time spent together (he won this time by the way**#*!!). I'll get him next adventure! Love ya Big Dog!!
